P.I.D. Radio 2/20/06: Depleted Uranium (Not)

A story leaked to the U.K. press yesterday may finally wake the sleeping giant.
Sensors outside an atomic weapons facility in Berkshire, England, picked up spikes in radiation that match battles in Afghanistan and Iraq during which thousands of rounds of depleted uranium (DU) munitions were fired. The connection is ominous: If nano-sized particles of radioactive heavy metal dust can be carried by the wind from Iraq to England, is anyone in the world safe from these weapons?
Put another way, has the American military been poisoning Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq with “dirty bombs” for the last 15 years? And how far has this radiation spread? How has inhaling this dust affected our veterans? Can the thousand of Gulf War Syndrome” be traced to DU?
